Say "Hello" to The World's Largest Family!
Ziona is not your average man, with an average family. Everything about him seems to generate headlines. Well, he has 39 wives to begin with, 94 children, 14 daughters-in-law, 34 grandchildren! That's like a whole neighbourhood!
Coming from the mountainous village of Baktawng in Mizoram (yes, he's an Indian!), Ziona happens to be the head of a Christian sect, Chana páwl, which practices polygamy. No wonder he keeps marrying at will! If you are wondering where he keeps his very large family, you will not be disappointed. He lives in a 100-room, 4 storeyed mansion, naming it Chhuan Thar Run, or the 'house of the new generation', and enjoys his own double bedroom, while his wives take turns to attend to his needs. About food, this family needs 100 kg rice, 60 kg potatoes and 39 chickens, and yes, that's only for one day!
Featured twice in "Ripley's Believe It or Not!”, this world's largest existing family sure knows how run itself, as their day starts at 5:50 am and ends at 9 pm. Cooking and cleaning are meticulously divided. Ziona is now 73, and first married at 17, and seems to be on a mission to find new wives yet again.
